Printable Exercise Tracker

Are you ready to make exercise a habit in your life? Whether you’re just starting out, a gym rat, or like to exercise at home, our Printable Exercise Tracker is here to help motivate you!

For 30 years, exercise had been a regular occurrence in my life. I had a routine and, if I didn’t exercise, I didn’t feel right. It was just a part of what I did. Then we moved. Our new city had a gym but it was pricey. I resolved to exercise at home and even bought a few weights. Yeah, you know how that goes.

Then, a new gym moved into town and it was affordable! I was so excited, that I joined before they even opened for business. But I was out of my routine. Workouts were few and far between, my pants had shrunk, and I needed motivation to get in the gym even though I had the gym etiquette down. I had to form the habit I had held for so many years. So, I created a Printable Exercise Tracker to get my muffin top under control and a Weight Loss Tracker Printable to track my weight.

How To Use The Exercise Tracker

  1. Print the Exercise Tracker – found below.
  2. Write the month at the top.
  3. Decide how many days a week you plan to exercise.
  4. Make exercise a part of your routine. For the longest time, my usual routine was to drive the kids to school and go straight to the gym. I didn’t dare go home first because I knew I wouldn’t want to leave the house again.
  5. After each workout, write in the exercise you did and for how long.
  6. Keep the Exercise Tracker where you will see it every day so it becomes a priority to get active. It’s easy to get distracted by all the things you need to do so use the printable exercise log as a way to motivate you to fill in those boxes.
  7. Use bribery! Hey, it worked when we potty-trained our kids! Seriously though, plan a reward for yourself if you exercise your pre-determined days, for the entire month.
  8. Follow through with your reward! It could be anything from buying yourself a new workout outfit to treating yourself to a massage. If you’re working towards being a debt boss and don’t want to spend money, treat yourself by going on a walk with a friend or permit yourself to binge-watch a show you’ve been wanting to see.
  9. Use the Exercise Tracker for at least two months. Some people say it takes 21 days to form a habit, while others say it takes 66 days. Play it safe and use the Exercise Tracker for at least two months.

Developing a pleasurable habit, like eating chocolate for breakfast, for instance, may take a day, while trying to exercise at 5 pm each evening may take much longer.

My goal is to do some form of exercise every day. I plan to head to the gym three days a week, walk the dog, and maybe even use the equipment I have at home!

You can log any physical activity, including gym workouts, walking, yoga, home exercises, and even outdoor adventures like hiking or biking.

How many days a week you should exercise depends on your fitness level and goals. A good starting point is three to five days a week. I usually aim to get to the gym three days a week and walk the remaining days.

If you find the exercise tracker is a great motivator for you to get active, it makes sense to keep using it. Many people form habits after a few months of consistency so you may find that you no longer need it.
