St. Patrick’s Day observes the death of the Patron Saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick.

St. Patrick was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. Six years later, he escaped but later returned and spent 40 years preaching and converting the people of Ireland to Christianity. It has been said that he used the shamrock to explain the Trinity.

Some say St. Patrick died on March 17, others say that is also when he was born. Regardless, it’s the day we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
