Good For All Ages

Whether you’re using a guess how many game at an office work party or an elementary classroom, any age can participate with a guess. At our last Christmas party, the 3-year-old guessed there were six chocolate kisses in the candy jar and had an older cousin help him write down his name and guess. If kids will be around, I would suggest games that will work for both kids and adults.

Another game that’s perfect for kids is this Spin To Win Christmas Bow Game because everyone loves to spin a wheel to win a prize!

Simple And Inexpensive

Depending on the festive item you choose to use in your game, this is a super simple game that’s easy on your wallet. I would suggest using an item that you already have on hand or will use in the future. Then, you need a container or jar to put the items in, a frame for your sign, pens, and a bowl or basket for the filled-out guess cards. Lastly, a sweet prize that encourages people to participate.

Doesn’t Take Too Much Space

This game just needs a few square feet to set up so you don’t have to worry about it taking up too much space. It’s perfect for parties, classrooms, or your workplace.

Easy To Play

There are no complex rules and you don’t have to get everyone’s attention to play this game because participants can take their guess at any time during your party.

Gives Guests Something To Do

Games that you can play at your leisure are great for those awkward moments when guests don’t have anyone to talk to and aren’t sure what to do with themselves. This game provides a place to gather like the water cooler at work.

Where Can you Play This Game?

Since Guess How Many Games can be played at participants’ leisure, they are a great game to play in many different situations.

  • Christmas Parties – From family gatherings to office celebrations, this game is an excellent add-on activity.
  • Classrooms – If you’re a teacher or parent planning a Christmas party for your or your child’s class, this game is a fun addition that kids will love.
  • Work – Use this game as a festive activity for you and your co-workers. I’ve been known to send a Guess How Many Game to work with my husband, just for fun!
  • Community Event – Any Christmas event gives you a prime opportunity for a little extra fun with this game.
  • Craft Fairs – If you’re hosting a booth at a craft fair, this makes a fun activity to attract attention. Just be sure to collect phone numbers or email addresses so you can contact the winner at the end of the craft fair.
  • Merch Table – My son is in a band and I’m thinking a Guess How Many Game would be a great way to attract attention to the band’s merch table. They could announce the winner during their set and give away merch as a prize.

I hope these ideas inspire you to set up a game and make ordinary events extra festive!

Frequently Asked Questions

Even though you’ve counted the festive items as you placed them in the jar, you may forget the number when it’s time to determine the winner. I usually write the number on a little sticky note and put it in a place I know people won’t see. In the past, that’s been the back of my computer or inside a pantry cupboard.

Jars are a good choice for this game because participants can see what’s inside but you don’t have to limit yourself. I have used jars, a boot shaped glass, a candy holder that was designed to look like a gumball machine, and even a bucket for fake snowballs. It is advantageous to use something with a lid so people can’t take things out as easily but, if you have a small crowd, it may not be a big deal. There was an event I attended where they used a large bowl full of chocolate Kisses as their container. At first, I thought the Kisses were up for grabs but quickly realized it was a game and the chocolate was off limits.

If you are going with a theme like snowballs or elves, you could purchase something to go along with the theme. Perhaps a warm scarf and hat for a snowman theme or if you’re going with an elf theme, it would be fun to have a prize like an Etch A Sketch or the Elvesโ€™ four main food groups of candy, candy corn, candy canes, and syrup as a nod to the movie, Elf.

I have found that a $10 gift card to a popular place is always a hit. I have also been known to create a basket of different items and let the winner choose their prize from the basket. At our last craft party, I created a basket that had gingerbread man socks, elf socks, wood trucks that were made of building blocks, a wood ornament craft kit, and gift cards to Chic-Fil-A and Hobby Lobby. My goal was to have a variety of things that kids and adults might like. I thought the $10 gift cards would go first but I still have a few left!
