Christmas Decor For Their Room Or Space

  • Christmas Tree – I found a cute little tree in Bullseye’s Playground at Target. Here’s a tree that’s similar.
  • Star Tree Topper or Bow – To top off their new little tree.
  • Mini Ornaments – To hang on the tree.
  • Ornament Hooks – Because they need a way to hang the ornaments!
  • Christmas Tree Lights – A Christmas Tree isn’t a Christmas Tree without the lights!

Festive Treats And Snacks

  • Hershey’s Kisses – Hershey’s has taken Kisses to a whole new level! There are a lot of fun choices and flavors!
  • Christmas Popcorn – Add this festive tag to a bag of microwave popcorn for a snack your recipient will love!
  • S’mores Trail Mix
  • Snowman Soup – Can you see it now? Microwaves everywhere are warming up hot water for the indulgence of Hot Chocolate!

Things To Keep Them Cozy

  • Wool Socks – To keep their feet warm on cold winter nights.
  • Beanie – To keep the heat in.
  • Hand Warmers – So they can put them in their pockets to keep their hands warm.
  • Blanket – A new blanket is always a good surprise.
  • Pajamas – To cozy up in with a good book.
  • Mittens or Gloves – So their hands don’t dry out from the cold weather.

Just For Fun

  • Santa Hat – What says festive more than a Santa Hat?
  • Christmas Scratch Ticket – For a little Christmas excitement!
  • Christmas Activity Sheet – It’s kind of like the placemats your kids used to get in restaurants!
  • Indoor Snowballs – For an instant snowball fight, indoors!
  • LEGO Creator Santa – I found this at my local Fred Meyer!
  • Gift Card – A gift card to a place near them that they often frequent.

The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others’ burdens, easing others’ loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas.

  1. Print the Christmas Care Package Printables on cardstock. There are 2 sizes of box décor – one for large 5” box flaps and one for small 4” box flaps.
  2. Cut out the Christmas shapes.
  3. Use an adhesive applicator to adhere the box décor to your box flaps. Use just the designs you like best.
  4. Add the Popcorn Tag to microwave popcorn.
  5. Place the Merry Christmas Sign, Coloring Page, Merry And Bright Word Search, and Christmas Joy Crossword Puzzle in the box.
  6. Cut out the Large Christmas Tree Clipart and place it in the bottom of your box.
  7. Write a message in the Card and add it to your box.
  8. Fill your box with everything that makes you think of a cozy Christmas. Be sure to pack it well so items don’t shift.

When Should You Ship Your Care Package?

When my kids were in college, I liked to ship their Christmas Care Packages in early December so they would have a bit of time to enjoy a little Christmas decor in their dorm rooms before heading home for the holidays.

Whether your recipient will be home or not, check out these USPS Shipping Deadlines to make sure you don’t send your package too late.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are a few supplies that would be good to have on hand for all of your care packages! Here are the supplies I have used:

  • Printer
  • Cardstock – I suggest printing on cardstock for durability and a great look!
  • Adhesive Applicator – You could also use glue but I have found an adhesive applicator is super easy to use.
  • Christmas Care Package Printables – Found above.
  • Jute, Twine, or Yarn for attaching the popcorn tags to a bag of microwave popcorn.
  • Scissors and Paper Cutter (optional) – I have found a paper cutter is quite useful to have on hand for many projects. I also like to use precision scissors to make cutting easier.
  • Box – Some people like to use flat rate boxes while others like to recycyle boxes they have on hand. These care package printables fit 4″ or 5″ box flaps.
  • Click-N-Ship Single Labels – I always suggest printing your own labels to save money and time.
  • Scale – It’s good to invest in a scale if you’re up for creating your own shipping labels.
  • Festive Christmas Stuff – Ideas above!

Yes! I had a lot of fun putting together and sending Christmas Care Packages to my college kids in early December. These packages helped them decorate their dorm rooms and get in a festive spirit before they headed home.

Many designers do create images that cover the entire box flaps. This works well when you use the boxes the designer recommends. I have found that USPS changes their box sizes from time to time and I like the flexibility to be able to use a box that you have on hand. My designs also allow a little creativity so you can decide which ones to use and where you want to place them.

If you want the entire box flaps to be covered, I would recommend using a festive wrapping paper or scrapbook paper to cover the box flaps and then use the designs I’ve created on top of the decorative paper.

You certainly can! However, you want to keep in mind that your recipients will likely throw the box away and they should. No one needs to keep boxes around, especially in small spaces. That’s why I’ve created designs that make it easy on you to transform an ordinary box into something magnificently special and yet, you won’t feel bad when it hits the garbage can because you didn’t spend a lot of time, money, and effort creating it.
