DIY Mini Paper Easter Basket Template

Use this DIY Mini Paper Easter Basket Template to create little Easter Baskets you can gift or use as party favors!

Previously, I shared how to Make A Paper Easter Basket using tools I had from my scrapbooking days, but I realized that you may not have or want to buy those tools, so I came up with a way to make a Mini Easter Basket using tools you probably already have at home!

Assembly

Step 1: Print

Print the Easter Basket template on card stock in the color of your choice.

Step 2: Cut

Cut along the outside black lines.

Step 3: Score

Score between the vโ€™s using a ruler and the back of a butter knife. You will have two score lines in each direction. (You could skip this step but scoring makes your creases nice and crisp.)

Step 4: Fold

Fold on each score line, using the back of the butter knife, to give your folds a nice crease.

Step 5: Cut On Black Lines

Cut along the folds on the black lines up to the center fold. You will have four cuts.

Step 6: Assemble

On one side with cuts, fold up the center piece and place one end of the basket handle on top of it. Then, pull the two outside edges up over the center square and basket handle, making sure to overlap all four pieces.

Step 8: Assemble The Second Side

Repeat for the opposite side.

Step 9: Fill The Basket

Add a little paper grass and a few treats!

What To Put In A Mini Easter Basket

The sweet thing about these Easter Baskets is they are tiny. Just a few treats will fill it nicely. Here are a few ideas:

  • Plastic Egg filled with Easter candy
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg
  • Miniature Chocolate Bunny (I purchased these at Costco)
  • Bunny Crayon – Learn How To Melt Crayons Into Shapes.

If you’d like to give a more substantial gift, you could easily place money in a plastic egg or include a gift card.

Materials

  • Mini Easter Basket Template
  • 8-1/2 x 11 Card Stock in an Easter color
  • Paper Grass and Treats to fill the basket

Tools

  • Printer
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Butter Knife
  • Stapler

Instructions

    1. Print the Easter Basket template on card stock in the color of your choice.

How To Decorate Your Easter Basket

These Easter Baskets are perfect just the way they are but if you’d like to make it extra special, here are a few fun decorating ideas:

  • Use Patterned Paper – Instead of plain cardstock, print the template on patterned paper for more interest.
  • Add Stickers Or Stamps – Decorate the basket with Easter-themed stickers, stamps, or even hand-drawn doodles to make it unique.
  • Add Ribbon – Tie a small ribbon around the handle for a feminine touch. You can also glue a bow to the handle.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s best to carry the baskets from underneath just to be sure you don’t rip the handle. Depending on what you put in the baskets, they could be heavier on one side and the contents could fall out if you’re trying to carry it by the handle. The handle is more for looks than function.

Not at all! I created a template to make constructing these baskets easier. That way you don’t have to make the measurements yourself. However, if you want to make a bigger paper basket, I would suggest checking out the step-by-step directions in my How To Make A Paper Easter Basket tutorial.

The handle is wavy for no reason other than the looks of it. You could easily cut a straight strip to use as a handle as well. I have a wavy paper cutter, from my scrapbooking days, that I used for my original paper Easter baskets and I love the design so I stuck with it.
