• Printer
• Kraft Cardstock – It’s always good to have cardstock on hand!
• Bone Folder – A Bone Folder helps you score and create a professional crease. I have one and it has been a great investment! You could also use the dull edge of a butter knife.
• Scissors or Paper Cutter – Scissors will work just fine but, for a super straight cut, you may want to invest in a paper cutter. You will find yourself using it over and over and over!
• Thank You Card PDF – found below
• Envelope – Envelopes are optional, depending on your preference. This notecard fits in a standard A2 envelope.

How To Use The Thank You Card PDF

Using this Thank You card is easy and straightforward.

1. Print the Thank You card (found below) on cardstock. I used kraft cardstock for this Thank You Card.
2. Cut the page in half.
3. Fold the cards in half and crease them with a bone folder or the back of a butter knife.
4. Write a personalized message expressing your gratitude and appreciation.
5. Put it in an envelope to send or deliver!

What Should You Say In A Thank You Card?

What to write in a thank you card depends on the situation and the person you are thanking. It doesn’t need to be lengthy but there are a few important parts to consider.

Outline

1. Greeting – Address the recipient by name. You may choose to add “Dear”, “Hello”, or another greeting before their name. (Example: Hi Penelope,)
2. Gratitude – Tell the recipient what you’re thankful for. This could be their kindness, help, support, or something they’ve given you. (Example: Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers you sent.)
3. Why – Let the recipient know WHY you’re thankful. (Example: They really brightened up my day!)
4. Personal Note – This is an optional note that can make your Thank You card more meaningful by saying something about the recipient. (Example: Your thoughtfulness means so much to me.)
5. Closing – Thank the recipient again and let them know how much they mean to you. (Example: Thank you, I’m truly blessed to have you in my life.)
6. Your Name – You may choose to add “From”, “Love”, or another appropriate sign-off. (Example: With Love and Gratitude, Bridget Jo)

Here’s how the example comes together:

Hi Penelope,

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers you sent. They really brightened up my day! Your thoughtfulness means so much to me. Thank you, I’m truly blessed to have you in my life.

Example 2:

Hello Sally Sue,

I want to express my sincere gratitude for everything you’ve done. Because of you, I’ve been smiling more and have a skip in my step. Your kindness and generosity have touched me deeply, and I am grateful to have you in my life. Thank you for being such an amazing co-worker, and I look forward to staying in touch.

Example 3:

Dear Aunt Gertrude,

Thank you for the $100 graduation gift! I was able to use it to purchase a mini fridge for my dorm room. This will come in super handy when I have late study nights and need to eat. Your support, as I make the move to college, means so much to me. I appreciate your generosity!

The tone of your thank you card should be sincere, warm, and personal. It’s also a good idea to write the card by hand, as this can make it more heartfelt and meaningful.
