Puppy Dough Activity Kit
My great-nephew was having a puppy-themed birthday party, and his mom found a scavenger hunt she wanted to include, so we made Puppy Dough Activity Kits for the prize at the end! My niece thought it would be fun to have modeling dough at the end of the hunt, and I remembered spending many afternoons with my great-nephew rolling dough and using a dog bone cookie cutter to make pretend dog treats. So we found dog-themed cookie cutters, and I cut a one-inch wooden dowel into five-inch lengths to use as rolling pins! Then, we placed the dough, rolling pin, and cookie cutter in little treat bags and added a cute little tag.

How To Use These Puppy Dough Activity Kits
Even though we used these Puppy Dough Activity Kits for a birthday scavenger hunt, the tags I created work for many occasions because they aren’t birthday-specific.

These kits are pretty simple to put together with just a few items!
- Dough – My niece purchased 3 oz. tubs of modeling dough, and I also found 3 oz. tubs of Play-Doh at a great price at Walmart!
- Rolling Pin – I purchased a one-inch dowel from Hobby Lobby and cut it into five-inch lengths. Then I quickly sanded each end of each 5-inch piece to make them nice and smooth (and so no one gets splinters).
- Mini Cookie Cutter – I was surprised at how expensive cookie cutters were when I went looking for them, but I found a set of mini dog-themed cookie cutters at Michael’s Craft Store at a decent price. However, these mini dog bone cookie cutters would have been my first choice if I had time to order them.
- Small Treat Bags – I bought small treat bags from the candy-making section of Hobby Lobby. They seem to be pretty decent quality.
- Yarn, Curling Ribbon, Jute – Something to tie the bag and add a tag to. I had bought curling ribbon, but we ended up liking the look of yarn. It was simple to use and tie into a bow!
- Roll, Cut, Create Tags (found below) – These tags are a cute way to let kids know what this little activity kit is for!
- Hole Punch – To punch a hole in the tags.
- Paper Cutter or Scissors – I’ve had a paper cutter for years and use it often, but regular scissors would work, too.
