Guests Can Play Anytime

One of my favorite things about this wedding game is that guests can participate at any time throughout the reception or shower. It’s self-explanatory and can be played individually, so there’s no need to gather a crowd or interrupt conversations.

It Gives Guests Something To Do

At just about any celebration or party, there are awkward moments where guests may not know what to do. This guessing game gives them something to fill that void. They may even strike up a conversation with someone over it too!

It Doesn’t Need Much Space

This game needs about as much room as a guest book would take, so it’s easy to find the space to put it.

You Can Personalize It For Your Wedding

Choose items to put in your jar that match your theme, colors, or hobbies. Just make sure whatever you choose is easy to count as you fill the jar. For example, don’t choose tiny beads in the colors of your wedding unless you’re willing to count them.

It’s Easy To Set Up

This is the wedding activity that doesn’t have to be complicated. Frame the sign, put out the guess cards and a few pens, provide a bowl or small container for completed guess cards, set out a jar with your chosen item, and purchase a prize for the winner.

Everyone Knows How To Play

You might have to keep old Uncle Frank from taking the items out and counting them, but other than that, there’s no learning curve with Guess How Many games. Guests look at the jar, choose a number, and write down their name and guess. Since it’s so simple, no one needs to run the game (except for keeping track of Uncle Frank). At the end of the reception, appoint one person to check the guesses and find the winner.

Where Can You Play This Game?

Since Guess How Many Games can be set out to play as guests have a spare minute, there are many different occasions that this wedding game would fit.

  • Engagement Parties – Fill a jar with ring pops or plastic rings for the occasion.
  • Bridal Showers – If you’re hosting a bridal shower, a Guess How Many game is the perfect touch for those awkward moments where guests don’t know what to do with themselves.
  • Couples Showers – The guys will probably be found trying to count through the jar!
  • Bridal Tea Party – Add a bit of fun between sips of tea.
  • Bachelor or Bachelorette Parties – Give the bridesmaids and groomsmen a little way to compete before the big day.
  • Work – Whether you’ve been invited to the wedding or not, it would mean a lot to the bride or groom to celebrate them at their workplace with a simple game for their co-workers or clients!
  • Rehearsal Dinner – Make the rehearsal dinner a little extra exciting with a simple game.
  • Wedding Reception – Between toasts and dancing, this extra little game will keep guests of all ages busy.
  • Wedding Reception Tables – If you want to get the guests at each table talking, add a game to the table and a prize for each table winner. The prize doesn’t have to be big. Just something simple will do!

Prize Ideas

For this guessing game, I’d choose prizes that would be useful to just about anyone, of any age.

  • Gift Card – A gift card to a local store, coffee shop, or popular restaurant is always a good choice. Even kids can get something at a coffee shop!
  • Mini Gift Basket – A basket full of snacks or treats would work well for the ride home after the wedding.
  • The Jar – Make the jar itself the prize if it’s filled with something the winner would like. Something like wrapped candy would work well. One year as a 4th Of July Party Game, we filled a jar with sparklers and pop-its and gave the whole jar to the winner! They carried the jar around proudly (before using the contents), and I didn’t need to buy a separate prize.

Frequently Asked Questions

I choose to print guessing games on cardstock for durability and because the guessing cards seem much more professional printed on cardstock.

You certainly can! I would choose a few matching pens to make it more cohesive. I often like to use felt-tip pens in a coordinating color simply because they are lovely!

This can happen, and there are a few ways you can handle it. You can have extra prizes on hand, or you can do a simple tiebreaker.

At my son’s college graduation party, we played the Who Knows The Graduate Best Graduation Party Game. My daughter and my son’s best friend tied for 1st place, so we asked an additional trivia question about Jack, and the winner got the prize.

For a wedding, you could choose a number or ask a fun question about the couple as tiebreakers.
